About Bodö
Nestled in the heart of the stunning archipelago, Bodö is a family-run guest harbour, BistroCafe, and B&B, offering a welcoming retreat for boaters and island visitors. Our journey began in 2016 when we breathed new life into the former Bodö coast guard station, transforming it into a vibrant destination for seafarers and travellers alike.
With a passion for preserving the island's heritage and a deep love for hospitality, we have carefully restored and expanded Bodö's services, blending modern comforts with the unique character of this historic location. Whether you're docking for a peaceful night's rest, savouring a meal with a sea view, or unwinding in our saunas, Bodö offers a tranquil escape in the Finnish archipelago.
From long summer evenings on our terrace to scenic walks along the island's trails, we invite you to slow down, explore, and enjoy the beauty of Bodö.
History of Bodö
The green main building of Bodö was originally built in 1967 as a coast guard station, serving as an important outpost until 1991. While the station closed its doors, the watchtower remained a steadfast landmark, still in use today as a reminder of Bodö's maritime past.
For nearly 25 years, the building stood empty, slowly reclaimed by nature. By the time renovation began in 2016, the surrounding landscape had become overgrown, and the old sand paths lay buried beneath the earth.
Over the next four years, Bodö underwent a significant transformation. By 2020, we had expanded our guest harbour with additional berths, introduced shore power for 28 boats, and built a new service building. This new addition brought a harbour office, a covered terrace for guests, an extra sauna, and a small shop offering convenient supplies for visitors.
Today, Bodö is a welcoming stop for boaters and island adventurers. Guests can enjoy a cozy BistroCafe with an outdoor terrace, a scenic walking paths, and relaxing sauna experiences. Indoors, visitors can unwind with board games and hearty meals, while our B&B offers four charming double rooms in the old coast guard quarters. As a Roope-certified harbour, we are committed to sustainability, providing a dishwashing station and proper biowaste sorting for our guests.
While the watchtower itself remains closed to the public, its presence continues to watch over Bodö, a symbol of the island's rich maritime history and enduring spirit.
